Collection of Oil Agreements Relating to the
Persian Gulf Littoral States, 1965 onwards
In May of this year, we in Arabian were having a lot
of trouble with Oil Concessions in our parish. As you
may be able to imagine, it is the source of quite an
amount of our distress. So with Research Department's
concurrence (in the guise of Patrick Bannerman), I went
about collecting oil agreements, left, right, and
centre to do with our area, post 1964.
2. They were eventually reproduced together in two
black binders (DSR 44a size), and comprise oil agreements
and related political agreements, for Abu Dhabi, Ajman,
Fujairah, Sharjah, Umm al Qawain, Ras al Khaimah, and
in December, when an amendment will be issued, probably
Dubai and Bahrain. (I have not yet considered Al-Qatar,
where there is the Al-Bunduq oil field, but if anyone
is concerned about that, why - they can always come to
you!)
3. The COA 65 had a relatively wide distribution of
about twenty copies. Although purely departmental in
nature, I wonder if Library would like a set? It is
intended to be a continuation of the Oil Agreements
side of PG 64, although not an official print, in the
context of the PG series. I appreciate that from a
Library point of view, there is not a lot of use in
holding a constantly revised collection, so that it will
always be up to date, but the fact that it does cover the
years 1964-1966 and 1967, which will be within your
catchment area soon, prompts me to ask if you feel you
would like a set.
