Note No: ADV 50/72 75 The British Embassy in Abu Dhabi prosent their compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Arab Emirates and have the honour to refer to the question of development assistance Her se jesty's Coveponent, consider, and the Ministry will no doubt agree, that it is no longer appropriate to make payments of grant in aid to the United Arab Emirates and no further such payments will therefore be made. Instead, future aid from the United Kingdom will be entirely in the form of technical assistance and the British Government stand ready to accopt for detailed consideration specific requests from the Government of the United Arab Emirates in the following fields: (1) the provision of individual experts on the usual basis that local costs should be mot by the Government of the United Arab Emirates; (11) the provision of training courses in the United Kingdom for suitable candidates from the Federation; (111) the provision of a limited amount of equipment for the development of fisheries. The mbassy will pursue this quostion separately. IM Ambassador would be grateful if the Ministry would signify when it would be convenient for him to discuss with the Ministry procedures and other matters relevant to this subject.
