(2) One armoured reconnaissance squadron (8 Ferret, 8 Saladin, 8 Saracen). (3) One support 81 mm mortar battery (12 mortars). (4) Two troops of engineers. (5) Signals, administrative and supply elements. C. Air Force. (1) 18 Fighter/Ground Attack aircraft (Hunters). (2) 16 Helicopters (Bell UHC or Augusta Bell 205). (3) 4 Light transport aircraft (Skyvans), plus 7 from Abu Dhabi (3 Islanders, 4 Caribous). (4) 9 Tigercat SAM. 6. These forces will include the present Trucial Oman Scouts, if it proves politically possible to do so, and the fighter/ground attack aircraft of Abu Dhabi. They do not include the other state defence forces, which are assumed to continue to be needed for internal security purposes. 7. It is considered that the UAE Defence Force, if led and officered by contract or loaned UK officers, night be able to deal with any Saudi Arabian attack on Abu Dhabi territory.
