limit or cancel any of the conditions as regards occupations. With theapproval of the Political Resident he may withdraw any such permit or addto the conditions regarding occupations attached to it. Any withdrawalof a permit or addition to the conditions attached to it, and the reasonstherefor, shall be reported to the Secretary of State.
3. A permit in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation shall notbe issued to any person subject to the Order until he produces to the PoliticalAgent his passport or other travel document for endorsement thereon of theperiod and conditions (if any) of permitted residence.
4. This Regulation shall not apply to persons in the employment of HerMajesty's Government or their families and the Political Agent may at hisdiscretion waive the necessity for having a permit in accordance withArticles 1 or 2 in particular cases.
5.-(a) Any person subject to the Order who fails to apply for a permitin accordance with Article 1 of this Regulation, or who remains within theterritories of the Ruler of Qatar in contravention of this Regulation, or whofails to comply with any condition attached to the permission granted to himto reside in such territories shall be guilty of an offence and, on conviction,shall be liable to imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months or toa fine not exceeding 500 rupees or to both, and Her Britannic Majesty's Courtfor Qatar may order him to leave the territories of the Ruler of Qatar withina specified period.
(b) The Court may vary or revoke any order to leave made underparagraph (a) of this Article.
(c) The Court shall forthwith report the order to leave and the groundsthereof to the Chief Court and the Chief Court may review, vary or revokeany such order.
(d) If any such person fails to obey an order to leave under paragraph (a)of this Article, the Court may order him to be deported from any place withinits jurisdiction and the provisions of Articles 28 (2) to (8), 29 and 30 (1) and (2)of the Order shall apply as regards any such order made in pursuance ofthis Regulation.
6. This Regulation may be cited as “The Qatar Residence PermitsRegulation, 1955," and shall take effect from the 1st of October, 1955.
